Living Faithfully

October 5, 2015 by Darcy Simonson

Daily Contemplation

Doubt is a pain too lonely to know that faith is his twin brother.” –Khalil Gibran

Faith & Doubt.
Doubt is a weight wrapped tightly around our ankles, causing us to sink beneath the despair of unrealized dreams. Faith is the hand that reaches into the depths of our despair, and brings us back to a place of possibility and potentiality. Today, contemplate the aspects of your life where doubt drowns your dreams.

“Fear knocked at the door. Faith answered. And lo, no one was there.” –Author Unknown

Faith & Fear.
The angel and the devil that sit on our shoulders, prodding us to shine our light, or diminish it. When in faith, I am alive, creative, enthusiastic and a magnet for all that I need. In fear, I am anxious and doubtful. I lack energy and drive. I repel not only that which will help me live a life I love, I repel myself! Today, become clear about what are you afraid of. How does fear feel? How does it diminish your light?

“If you knew that hope and despair were paths to the same destination, which would you choose?” –Robert Brault

Faith & Hope.
Hope gives wing to your dreams and desires. Hopelessness lays them to rest. Hope is that tiny voice of encouragement that reminds you that you are not alone. There is something, someone, rooting for you in the unseen, whispering in your ear to keep you moving in the direction of your joy. Listen to that voice. Act upon it. Contemplate today when you have you nearly given up, until that voice of hope, that unseen cheerleader, came to remind you of your power and potential.

“In faith there is enough light for those who want to believe and enough shadows to blind those who don’t.” –Blaise Pascal

Faith & Choice.
Faith is essentially believing in the unknown and acting upon that belief. Earlier this week we contemplated doubt and fear. Why is it those two things seem so persistent, so eager to show themselves? When they do, faith is choice that must be consciously made. It is flexing our spiritual muscle, so to speak, to chose to believe in things that we cannot see. Today, contemplate what you believe but cannot see. What uncertainties have you surrendered to faith?

“Faith can move mountains, but don’t be surprised if God hands you a shovel.” –Author Unknown

Faith & Action
People are often “trying” to have faith, or “trying” to believe, or “trying” to be hopeful. They sit around waiting for proof that what they are “trying” for deserves their faith. All they need to do to realize that their dream or goal is worth their faith is to act on it. Faith can move mountains, and according to the Bible, even as little as a mustard seed. Life is riddled with uncertainties. Act anyways. Life is full of obstacles. Act anyways. Listen to the guidance from within your heart. Follow your bliss. Act upon your dreams, and take the steps to fulfill your desires. Faith is an action verb; pick up that shovel and move that mountain, one act at a time.

“Faith is raising the sail of our little boat until it is caught up in the soft winds above and picks up speed, not from anything within itself, but from the vast resources of the universe around us.” –W. Ralph Ward

Faith & Patience.
You can plant a mustard seed, patiently water that seed with faith and inspired action, and watch it grow and blossom. Or you can poke at it and berate it, wondering why it hasn’t sprouted yet, and then complain that it never even broke ground before withering and dying. Have faith in your dreams. Nurture and tend to them. Keep the faith and allow them to unfold in divine time. What dreams and desires of your own need a bit of tending, or inspired action? Where in your life can you uproot fear and plant faith? In what aspects of your life would practicing patience help you realize the fruit of your faith?

“Faith is believing that the outcome will be what it should be, no matter what it is.” –Colette Baron-Reid

Faith & Surrender.
Finally, let it go. True faith is demonstrated in letting go, rather than trying to control, the outcomes. Sure, hope and dream for a particular outcome. Decide what you want. Set your intentions for manifesting it. Get into inspired action. Trust that you are worthy and capable of it. Then let go of the outcome with faith that the best one will present itself. Sometimes the outcomes that materialize don’t seem like the best ones for us, yet they are. And, yes, that statement requires faith.

Living a Life you Love

October 2, 2015 by Darcy Simonson

It can be difficult to make a decision when you aren’t clear what your desires and intentions are, what matters to you and why, or even who you truly are.

With those unknowns it can seem easier to decide not to decide, to loose faith in yourself and to give up your power.

Begin living a life you love by becoming clear about who you are and what you want, empowering yourself to make decisions, set intentions, and lay a foundation of faith and trust.

Daily Contemplation

Get In Decision.
Today, consider what will happen if you don’t make a decision. The truth is, when you choose not to make a decision, you are making a decision. In essence, it is a decision not to take responsibility for your life. Rather than being the active creator of your life, you choose to become a victim to the outcomes of indecision. Sounds harsh, I know. But think back to the times you’ve chosen not to make a decision, instead leaving it in the hands of fate or someone else, and the outcome wasn’t what you truly wanted. You can chose indecision, or you can get in decision and actively create a life you love.

Decisions that empower.
Do you tend to make decisions that honor yourself, or to please someone else? While it feels good to be instrumental in the happiness of others, consider carefully whether or not your decisions are too often self-sacrificing. Do they empower you or disempower you? Do they encourage your joy or cause resentment? Today, simply give yourself permission to make decisions that lead to your greater good or that fulfill your wants and needs. Observe how you feel when faced with a decision, and then how it feels when you actually make the one that supports your authenticity and desires.

Examine your indecision.
Sometimes the hardest part of making a decision is deciding to do so. When you find yourself in a place of indecision, no matter how insignificant, ask yourself what holds you back. Is it fear of making a mistake? Is it a question of ability or worth? Are you uncomfortable asserting your opinion or power? When you do make a decision, is it based in authenticity and made with integrity and love, or is it based on a lack of self-worth, a need to please, or fear of rejection?

Forces that influence your decisions.
The voice of ego tries to persuade (often even bully) us into fear-based decisions. The voice of our intuition is gentle and feels no need to push an agenda; it simply gives a nudge in the direction of our greater good. Ego shouts, while intuition whispers. Which of the two most often direct your decision-making?

Ask for help.
When we open the door to receiving divine guidance, it will come. Today, ask the question, “which decision will lead to the best and highest outcome for myself (and/or for others)?” Or ask, “Which decision is most in alignment with my soul’s purpose?” Now, listen to the still, small voice within you for an answer.

Avoid getting caught up in “right or wrong.”
The beauty of life is that we can learn important lessons or be lead to our greater good when we make what appear to be mistakes. Often, the “wrong” decision is the “right” decision, leading us to gain a valuable lesson through the experience of it, or putting us on a path toward a yet unrealized future blessing.

Which decision will bring you closer to your soul’s purpose?
Perhaps your life purpose is to experience manifestation and abundance, to understand compassion and forgiveness, to express and receive love, to teach or something else. If you are unsure of your purpose, listen to your heart. What brings you joy? What excites and interests you? The road that leads to the expression of your passion and purpose, while not always easy, will feel good in your heart and soul. Ultimately, we are here to experience and extend love and joy. Decide what it is that brings you those things, immerse yourself in it, and you will be on the path to living a life you love.

P.S. Don’t forget about this monthly meditation!
